I am hooked to a LAN via ethernet. I see the Workgroup and the networked computers.
I have colleagues who routinely log in and out with XP laptops and I see them as well.
Here is my problem. One of the people in the office sent their machine to the IT to be rid of viruses and defragged. The computer is back online but I can not see it. I can see it from other windows machines on the network. Seems my Mac is the only one who can't see it. I've tried Connect to Server using both name and what I think is the IP address.
Question. How can I verify the IP Address of this computer? It's running WIN 98. If I verify the IP Address what is my next move? Remember this computer is on the subnet of a Workgroup. I am using a AL 15" G4 1.25 and Panther 10.3.5. I did upgrade while the other computer was away but it has not affected my seeing others on the network.

The network admin probably added a WINS server to it's configuration, so you now need to look to that WINS server to connect. This you have to do through SaMBa, and a little googling with tell you how to do that (after you get the WINS address).
