God I'm so frustrated with this networking mess.

My G5 and iBook see my parents wireless XP box with ease (its using a dlink usb wireless adapt) but the XP see's both in the MSHOME workgroup I created, but it can only access the iBook, which is also on a wireless connection via Airport.

The error message from windows said
Is this happening because of my G5 (my iBook won't even see the SEAN'S G5 in all caps, which is a SMB share) but sees it via AFA in a normal matter, whereas my G5 will see the iBook in both formats.

Or is it because of this shitty Dlink 614+ router?

Somehow I want to think my problems are with the router, but DAVE made my G5 accesible to my parents. Maybe some third party software ****ed this up?

Help!

Oh, and my G5 is wired via Cat 6 to the router.
Is this all because its going from WIRELESS->WIRED network?

This is the error windows provides when trying to access my G5

Also, Im leaving for college in 2 weeks, will I be able to see all the LAN PC's with ease, or am I going to be in the same boat?

first step is to eliminate the suspects.

Start with your wireless network. Plug all your computers into the wired router. Ensure Windows file sharing is active in the OS X computers, and that you don't have firewall softare running.

if they see each other and can access, then you know it's something with your wireless setup.

one key to seamless sharing and viewing is ensuring your systems are all on the same subnet. When you plug a wireless router (like Airport) into a wired router, the two will be on different subnets until you configure the wireless router to bridge.
You heard me! Sod off, Sadr!

Well I can see them both wired and wireless, but the XP box can't access my G5!
