Hello,
could anyone please help me decide which of these I should be buying.
what I want is to plug my ADSL phone line (UK) in (not sure if option 2 has a modem?) and use my Airport Express to extend, is this possible?.
Option 1
Option 2
Unless you know anything better !
Thanks for your time.

From a cursory glance at the links you provided, the difference between the two LinkSys devices is that option 1 has a built-in DSL modem, whereas option 2 does not. For option 2, you would need an DSL modem (with an ethernet connection) as well.
However, I doubt either option will allow you to use Airport Express as a range extender. I believe it will work as a range extender only with Airport Base Stations. At least, that is Apple's official stance. You might want to check the Airport Express forums on the Apple Discussions site.

Since you'll need a modem, option 1 is the most logical choice because it has one, . That's a pitty, because option 2 looks like a better access point and router (two antennas beats one antenna every time).
John was right, you probably won't be able to use an AirPort Express to extend the range of either one in the same way you could extend an AirPort Base Station's range.

Thanks for the responce, I emailed ISOMICRO who make the linksys with these questions:
Hello, please could you answer two questions before purchase of Linksys WAG54G
1, Does this model support WDS (Wireless Distribution System)
2, Will this model run on Apple Macintosh running OSX 10.3
Many Thanks.
This was the reply:
Dear Sir/Madam,
The WAG54G does support WDS but only with the most recent firmware and I was also informed by my technical support that the operating system of the Mac doesn’t really affect it.
So I guess all is well with Airport Express.
