My new G4 iBook has half the range my Dell Win2000 laptop with Cisco wireless card. Any ideas? I have SBC/Yahoo DSL/Wireless. When I'm nearby it is great: Internet, VPN, Windows network, printing, etc. But 6 feet down the hall and my iBook signal dies. My Dell goes all the way to the other end of the apartment with no problem. Is my AE card defective? Can I adjust the antenna or some settings somewhere?

So to answer my own question:

Because the antenna needed jiggling.

I opened it up and checked the antenna connection. It felt nice and snug but I unplugged it and plugged it back in. I also smotthed out the wire into more of a loop instead of a sharp fold.

Don't know what exactly did the trick but now I have max bars of reception at the back of the apartment. It is easily as strong as my PC.
