does anyone know of a way to get sound support without using iTunes? i.e., if i want to listen to a baseball game from mlb.com which doesn't go through iTunes and have it sent to airport express through the speakers. is there any way of doing this??
help?!?!

Not that I have heard of. From what I understand itunes encodes the audio to be sent to the APEx unit that converts it back. The program you would use would need that ability to encrypt and send.

There is a method of using another program to capture the sound that would have been output to the system speakers, turn it into an mp3 stream (shoutcast), and then connect to that stream through iTunes and then into the APE.... all on one computer... I don't remember the software's name at the moment, and it is a bit convoluted...

Interestingly if you watch a video from the iTunes Music Store even if you have the sound selected to go to the Airport Express unit it still outputs it from the computer.
It seems iTunes does not convert the sound from a QT video stream into the lossless format and onto the Airport Express. Which is a pity.
