Hey folks-

Need help with something. My kids have an eMac that connects to our home network via wireless card. When in their playroom, my Powerbook can't receive the signal from the airport station. I have tried to set up the eMac to share its internet connection via the ethernet port. Powerbook says that I am connected to the internet through the ethernet port, but I am unable to do anything on the internet. Here's what I know:

Cable Modem --(wireless)--> Airport Express (10.0.1.1) --(wireless)--> eMac (10.0.1.2) --(ethernet)--> Powerbook (192.168.2.3)

Don't know much about networking, but I am wondering if the eMac should have given the Powerbook an IP that is in the 10.0.1.x range? The Powerbook is saying that its router is at 192.168.2.1 - should I change that to the eMac's IP?

Thanks for your help.

it sort of makes sense that the emac would choose a different range for its internet sharing over ethernet and its own connection. you wouldn't want to dhcp servers on the same subnet after all. as for why it's not working i have no idea. setting dhcp on the powerbook would be best -- don't muck around with the ip. can you ping the emac from the powerbook? ("ping [machinename].local" in terminal.app)

Yep, I can ping the eMac from the PowerBook. The eMac shows up on the PowerBook's network - and the eMac can see the PowerBook (and the other computer on the network).

Additionally, I have tried messing around with the firewall on the eMac - to no avail.

Wow - you guys are great. Someone on these forums must have telepathically fixed the problem, because it just started working.
