AP Express with Netgear wireless network??

I have a netgear WGT624 wireless network in our house any its working dandy.
I would like to to strenghten the signal in the shed 50 feet behind our building which I use as a studio. The signal is there but just about one bar. Is it possible to use the AP Express as a range extendedr for a non Apple network??

Check this thread out; in theory it should work, but after reading some of those posts it seems it only works with certain routers.
