Hi. I'm on a 2048 ADSL connection which maxes out at 220K/s when plugged straight to the ADSL modem. Can I expect similiar speeds with Airport Express plugged into the ADSL modem and me 10 feet away? If not, any other WiFi borne?
Thanks.

Yes. Airport (even the original Airport) is WAY faster than most (and definitely your) internet connections.

Um, then is something I must check if I get 220K connected through the ADSL modem and only 115K through Airport Express? Thanks.

Do 5 or more speed tests with both methods and compare the averages of these.
EDIT:
And do the tests at the same time of day, alternating back and forth.

So there is nothing special I should be aware of; ie Turn off X....
I just purchased a new Airport Express for myself today and the speeds I'm getting with the default settings equal a straight ADSL modem connection...

Those results are to be expected.
Airport and Airport Extreme (Express included) are plenty fast to keep up with most internet connection needs. Most ADSL is 1.5 megabits per second download (about 150 KB/sec). Compared to even the original Airport at a speed of 11 megabits per second and Airport Extreme (and thus Express) move packets at speeds of 54 megabits per second.
You should see no drop in bandwidth for your connection when hooked through the Airport Express. The only place you'd see slow speeds would be for internal traffic, that is, transferring files from one computer in your house to another computer in your house at 11 megabits/sec or even 54 megabits/sec can be painful! Most modern computers have 10/100/1000 megabit Ethernet cards, which can prove to be a lot faster for LAN traffic when running a hardwire.
Glad you got an Airport Express... I've got mine hooked up to my laser printer and my 300 watt stereo across the room. Cool.
