i have just installed gentoo on an old PC i have and i would like to connect both that and my pismp to the internet through my DSL modem. unfortunately, i can't get the mouse on the gentoo box to work so i've been working on it through ssh and X -query on my 4-port hub from my pismo. now that i have DSL up and working i want to be able to have both machines on the internet... but still be able to connect to the gentoo through my pismo.
the problem i foresee is that if both computers are connecting via DHCP (as they are) then i won't be able to get the machines to connect, and therefore won't be able to control the gentoo box. i also don't have two ethernet ports in either machine and can't set up two interfaces otherwise i would channel one connection through the other.
does anyone have an idea on how to do it? also, extremely poor so buying equipment (ie a netgear router) is not a solution.
