Try ethernet first.
Make sure you get all the settings in the networks prefs straight.
If you have a second computer (Mac or PC), try to ping your TiBook, either in OS X terminal or in the Windows Command Prompt, type "ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" = your TiBooks IP address.
If you do get a ping, it means that the ethernet connection is ok.
If you then don't get any internet connection, you might need to manually set the IP addresses for the DNS (Domain Name Server).
Just try the following DNS: 68.10.16.25 and 68.10.16.30
Once you got ethernet working, do the Airport setup.
If your Airport card is not recognized, you might have to do some updates. Try to install all updates for OS X 10.2 (10.2.8 or 10.2.9, IRRC)
