i got 2 macs. and i found out both got at least 1 open firewire 800 port. So i When though all my extra cables and found a firewire 800 cord thats 50' long.

I hooked them up but they dont mount on the desktop. How do i do this? i want them both mounted on my desktop on both machines

Have you done this already?

Also, be aware of this if you plan on using other FW devices at the same time.

Or you could try Target Mode, which I find very convenient. Good speeds, too. I know it works for FW400; not sure about FW800.

I wish I had extra cables like that lying about. If I'm lucky I'll find something like an old modem port to phone wire adapter with a bit of phone wire or something. Nothing useful.

Target disk mode is great for quick transfers, but it isn't really a great day-to-day solution if you still want to be able to use both computers normally.



and the thread title sounds dirty.

well i want them to be connected so i can be able to mount user folders faster and a faster connection than ethernet can provide since its a direct link and firewire is fast

well the target mode with like a charm. a 600 mb file copied in less than 2 mins. if i had tried that over the internet would of been 5 hours!

now i also got a way to backup my hd on the other (cuss its having allot of errors)
