I have both my Mac and PC connected to an ethernet hub. I have set the PC to share files. How do I access them on the Mac? Also, I wish to share the printer which is attached to the PC with my Mac. How dow I do this?

If you know the IP address of your PC, go to the Mac and on the Finder's tool bar from the pull down menu under "Go" select "Connect to server..". In the box type "smb://xxx.xxx.x.xxx" <no quotations>
-(where the x's stand for the PC's IP address). You will see a request for user name and password for your PC. Once you enter these you should get another box asking which folder/file /drive (that you set up for sharing on the PC)you want to mount. Once this is selected you will see an icon on your desktop for that folder/file/drive.
This works for me although if you read my posts on this subject you can see that I haven't solved the printer problem or getting my PC to see the Mac.

1. turn on Windows File Sharing in the Sharing preference pane
2. click the Network icon in your Finder sidebar
3. browse through to the PC's workgroup

depending on how things are setup already, you might have to fiddle with the IP addresses before they talk to each other, ie: give the Mac 192.168.0.1 and the PC 192.168.0.2

as for the printer, i've never managed to do this successfully. i've added the PC printer on my Mac, but it only ever printed out a mess of jargony-gobbledegook*. haven't tried in a while, though, so it might work better in 10.3.8
