I have a network with two AirPort Extreme base stations (lets call the bs1 and bs2). For some reason AirPort Admin Utility can only see one of them (bs2). When I manually enter the IP address for the second one it tells me there was an error reading the config file and still doesn't see it. If I try to configure bs2 (the only one I can access) as a WDS main basestation and then enter the IP address for bs1 to be a remote basestation, it says that bs1 isn't available. Despite all this bs1 still works when you want to connect to it as a client and use the wireless network.

I'm at a bit of a loss to figure this one out. I want to be able to access bs1's configuration so I can update the software and all that but I can't. Does anyone have any ideas?

Manually setting up a WDS is a real pain in the ass. It's best to set up your base stations with separate networks and let the Airport Admin Utility join them together.
