I have an iBook, and recently, my internet connection won't work. When checking the network prefpane, it says its connected to the network, but can't connect to internet cause it says i have a "self-assigned IP" even though I'm using DHCP.
I am however getting a 169.x.x.x IP which means I'm not connecting properly to the DHCP server so I know something is wrong. It says I am connected to my domain 'MSHOME' yet I can't connect to anything on the domain (i.e the router).
This only happens with airport though. When I plug in an Ethernet cable, I receive a valid IP, 192.168.0.4, and I can connect to the internet.

I've been trying to fix this for a few days now and its not working. Does anybody have any ideas? Btw, I am using a netgear router.

Hmm...this may be a brute force approach but I would reset the router to the factory defaults and see what happens.
