I just got a new Alu PowerBook 15 and wonder about its AE card.

The AE card is barely able to sense my neighbor's unprotected net (I know, lame, but all I have to test with right now, broadband hookup [1] coming next week), let alone establish a working connection.

I tested access to same network with my wife's recent ThinkPad's built-in wireless , and it does a fair job at it. I am suprised, as I was expecting at least an similar level of performance from the Apple hardware.

After searching this forum, I wonder if the AE card may not being seated right?. Should I take the PB to the nearest Genius Bar, then?

I am new to OS X [2] and wonder if there would be any obscure settings I may not know about...? I haven't gotten around to update the system software for lack of broadband connection:

- OS is version 10.3.7
- AE card firmware is 3.4.4f5

Would a software update ease my pain?

Any help would be appreciated!

[1] which one of the lesser evil, Comcast BB or Verizon DSL..??
[2] I come all the way from Sytem 3.2 Finder 5.5, through Syst. 7.5... then nothing until now!

Have it checked, but you can also get a different card, with better reception to go into the 15 PB.

In addition, my Ibook constantly got better reception than my 12" PB. I don't know about the 15, but like I said, there different cards that will work with the 15 and 17 pbs.

I would try to find a link, but I'm at work. Google it, and good luck.
