Hey
2 small problems I am having. First Airport Admin Utility does not see either my aiport base or airport express when i use it to try to setup the express to extend the airport network my extreme has set up.
Second problem is that when I try to change the settings on my airport extreme base station, the airport setup assistant has a problem communiticating with the base station. It will not allow me to change any settings..
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is wrong?
Thanks
Frank

First and foremost, connect to the base station with a cable! The problem with trying to change settings through wireless is that the signal can drop/alter/vary enough to screw everything up. Some wireless access points and routers won't accept settings changes except through a cable.

I have the same problem using the AirPort Admin Utility with an AirPort Express base station. The problem still exists even when connected directly to it with an ethernet wire. It's odd because I can connect wirelessly through it to get an Internet connection, but I can't access it to change the settings.

hey guys,
i've been having the exact same problem since upgrading to TIGER.....
i tried a soft and hard reset of the base station but i still can't conect via the admin utility.
Strangley i can still access it and connect to the net from my ibook.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it ??

I wonder if this is a Tiger issue. I did a hard reset (and have some other issues as a result!) but one of them is definitely the communication issue.
I'm going to follow ghporter's advice to connect directly, to see if that fixes it.
My biggest problem with the whole thing, at the moment, is that I can't print any longer, from either the PB or my desktop, both of which are connecte4d to the base station. Fortunately, I have another printer...

Ok, after hours of f***ing around with this (I am frustrated) I realized what the problem is. For some reason when PPPoE is selected in the network preferences panel the basestations do not show up. If you deselect PPPoE, the basestations do show up in the airport admin utility. I haven't been able to use airtunes and my internet connection at the same time. Airtunes on the Express only seems to work when PPPoE is deselected, and the internet only when PPPoE is selected. PLEASE APPLE GIVE US A BETTER SOLUTION!!!! Feel free to ask any questions.
