Every time I wake up my PowerBook I find that the airpor connection is not connected to my wireless network.

How can I get this to automatically connect? (Is this even possible?)

Some PowerBooks have problems with losing the connection on waking from sleep, no matter how you have it set up. My 12" rev A does.

Tried this. It didn't work. Actually the OPPOSITE solution is what fixed the problem. (If I set it to automatic, it works, if I set it to a specific network, it doesn't.) Go figure.

I just realized ... this is my original thread. This problem became an issue in the misc. forum due to the incompetency of a "genius" at the Apple Genius bar. (Sorry)

Actually some computers-any type, Mac and PC-have problems with reconnecting from sleep/hibernate/standby. In some cases it's because the wireless card's driver doesn't pick up on the fact that the computer has just woken up. In others, well it proabably has something to do with the phase of the moon and the alignment of the planets.

In any case, I'm glad you have your problem taken care of. Sorry the "genius" proved he wasn't. It sounds like customer comment form time to me!

Just for clarrification, this problem exists on a cold-boot as well.

Then it's a "search for wireless network" problem, and almost definitely wireless card-firmware related. What version of AirPort software are you running?

this was a problem i experienced after running a security update on 10.3.8, and selecting "Automatic" did fix the problem. i guess the user-setting was over-ruling the default option (which was the same network) but not engaging it on the switch.
