Yes. And No.

If you turn off the fancy, eye-catching "speed doubling" option, the D-Link (or is it Netgear?) router will work with your AirPort equipped Mac. But ONLY if you turn off the "108Mbps" option. You CANNOT get 108Mbps with Apple equipment-but then people who buy the "108Mbps" equipment don't really get it either.

All of the "speed doubler" and whatever else they call it extra-speed systems are proprietary. They use multiple channels (a small implementation of the MIMO technology coming in 802.11n) to increase throughput, but they require client equipment that's from the same brand to do this. Apple doesn't go in for this kind of (somewhat off-base) grandstanding, so they don't have an implementation that offers that kind of theoretical throughput. No sweat though, since when 802.11n is finalized (next year, probably) Apple is almost certain to come out with a great implementation.

Well, yes and no.

My D-Link works, even with the Super-G mode turned on, but (at least when I first tried it; I've upgraded the firmware since then) the connection was unreliable. I had to turn off all the non-standard modes to get it to be a reliable connection.

There ARE some third-party drivers to use third-party wireless cards on Macs with the 108Mbps modes active.
