hi

I am trying to connect an iMacDV to an iBook clamshell, to swap files between

They are connected with a cross over ethernet cable

the imac has OSX10.1 and the iBook has 10.3

on the iBook it recognises the iMac -but when I go to click on it - I have a long (timeout countdown) followed by a prompt that I login as a guest -but it fails to connect

does anybody have any ideas what the problem might be?

I thought connecting two Macs together would be simple

thanx in advance

Rich

do you have file sharing turned on?
also, try logging in as an admin user, not guest.
