I have an airport extreme base station with an airport express configured to join the extremes network. The extreme is connected to a cable modem through a Linxsys router supplied by Vonage. The extreme is connected through ethernet to a flat panel imac.
The main problem is with my titanium powerbook. I regularly loose my connection to the airport extreme and the powerbook doesn't even see the airport express. I know the titaniums have poor reception so the best thing for me to do would be to access the network through the express; but I can't figure out why the titanium can't see it.
I have a 2.4ghz cordless phone system connected to the linxsys router so I have enabled interference robustness on both wireless base stations.
A few other odd things: the titanium always used to automatically find the extreme network. Since I added the express, I need to choose the network from the Airport menu bar whenever I wake the computer from sleep; and sometimes I need to tell the system what network I wish to connect to; even then I get odd messages like "the wireless network "xxxx" does not support the selected encryption method" when I am damn sure it does because I set it up!!!
Whats going on here???

Well, this isn't your main problem (you've essentially set up a roaming network, and apparently the handoff isn't happening? Check Apple's website for the excellent help on setting up roaming..) but you'll be a lot happier if you put a PMCIA wireless card in the Titanium. The difference in my Ti-400 was night and day. Made me wonder why all the magazines and all the experts weren't ragging on Apple for designing such poor range into the Ti.

If you check places like dealmac.com, you can find deals like a Panther-native card for $15
