Hi all,

I have a BlackBerry 7100t that I'd like to be able to use on the road for an internet connection with my PowerBook. The BlackBerry obviously has an internal GPRS system and connects to the internet by itself, but I can't figure out any way to get my Mac to use it. When using the Bluetooth Setup Assistant, it says that none of its 3 core functions (including setting up a mobile phone as a conduit for web access) are supported by the BlackBerry. Even connecting the BlackBerry via USB and going into the Network pane of System Preferences doesn't give me any obvious ideas.

Can anyone help out with this one?

Thanks!

I, too, would like to use my BlackBerry 7100t as a USB modem. I have T-Mobile and the BB works great with Windows XP using the 7100t as a USB modem. I'd like to do the same with my PowerBook since that is my primary machine.

What I'm missing is a driver that does the USB to serial connectivity for the 7100t. I've tried using the PocketMac BlackBerry drivers but they don't work for the USB/Modem connectivity. Does anyone know of a generic USB Modem driver that has been "hacked" to get the 7100t recognized? Then I could use Z-Term or such to make sure the AT commands are recognized by the BB. Then it is pretty straightforward to do the modem script to get PPP connectivity to T-Mobile via GPRS.

Any help would be appreciated.

My 14 day return period was about to end, so I reluctantly returned my BlackBerry 7100T back to T-Mobile. With PocketMac for BlackBerry installed I was able to synch the task list, address book and calendar. I was able to receive and send email from the BlackBerry just fine. I had to do all this with a USB cable. The BlueTooth connection did NOT work. Also, I wasn't able to find a USB or BlueTooth Modem driver that would work with the BlackBerry on a Mac so I could connect to the internet from my PowerBook via GPRS. The 7100T does this just fine from my PC Laptop, but I'm not ready to give up my PowerBook for a PC Laptop for my everyday use.

If/when a BlueTooth and/or USB modem driver is written for OS X, I'll be right down to the T-Mobile store and buy one of these nice devices again.

From what I read, the only way to use the Rim as a dialup modem is via windoze (running the blackberry desktop software). I've got the 7250, quite dissapointed in the lack of modem ability. Not just the lack of ability to use my Verizon network account, but the lack of the ability to open Zterm, select the Blackberry, and even pass it AT commands.. Something special about the blackberry desktop software..

Also, the bluetooth only supports headsets and a rumored keyboard profile. No data connecivity. So I heard.

Sorry.. but dear god i'd pay out the ass for someone to write the damn driver so i could use it with my mac to get online..
