I have at least two MACS here on a lan connected to a windows network. The problem I have seen is that the system log file keeps filling up with this message maybe 2 times per minute:

May 13 16:13:25 localhost kernel: arp: 192.168.0.3 moved from 00:04:23:b5:cf:e2 to 00:04:23:b5:ce:6c on en0

The computers have been experienceing issues and im wondering if it is because the log file keeps popluating with this error. Everytime it logs, the ethernet id of 192.168.0.3 is moved to a new id.

Any clue as to what is going on here.

Seems like you have another machine on your network with the same ip. I would make sure nothing else is using the ip 192.168.0.3. This would cause both machines to send arp replies when looking for 192.168.0.3 and fill up your logs with MAC address changes.

Anyhow let me know what you find.

Ill be looking into it on Monday. I am not well versed in networking but the admin who setup the network mentioned something about a bridge that he set up to increase the bandwidth between ethernet cards ... i dont know if that is significant or not.

Another issue which might be a bi-product of this is that when users have aliases of server folders (from volumes on 192.168.0.3) in the finder window toolbar it hangs the finder every single time you open a finder window. Also this server has a few volumes and the users cannot put more then 1 volume alias in the dock at the same time (the one they try to put in acts like it will go into the dock and then it disapears).

No response from the network admin. I think he just wants to forget about it and hope it goes away.
