I'm having trouble connecting to the internet using an Airport Extreme base station and a Powerbook G4 with Tiger. I'm able to connect wireless to other wireless connections, but not to my own base station. I keep getting a Negotiating PPPoE message, but it never connects. Any Ideas?

When you're connecting to a home or office network using your AirPort card, your computer is not "connecting to the Internet." It's connecting to a LAN. You apparently have your computer configured to connect directly to your DSL modem, which is why you get PPPoE messages-PPPoE is the protocol most DSL providers use for connection management.

I'd delete that network location and set up a new one that you configure to join a LAN. Once you delete the existing location, your computer should detect the Extreme base and tell you there's a wireless network available. That should start the setup process for you-follow the prompts and refer to the Apple Help for Networking if you don't understand something. If it still doesn't make sense, check back here.

My computer is configured to connect to the airport base, i've spoken to apple support and they checked all of the settings which appear to be ok, they used the same settings to successfully connect when I brought both the airport station and powerbook into the store.

My computer does detect my airport base as well as some others in my neighborhood. I have been able to access the internet using their wireless connections but cannot seem to access the internet through my own base station.

Have you considered reworking the base station's setup? If you're getting any sort of PPPoE message, (and you have the base station log you into your DSL connection) your base station's user/password information could be corrupt.
