Hey guys,

I'm really stuck on this one and I'm hoping you can help.

On my desk in my office I have a PC and a Mac Mini both plugged into a Netgear wired router. I've used the "create network" function on the airport menu on the Mini to create a wireless network that I can access from my iBook. So far... everythings fine.

However, at the outer reaches of my house (the place where I most want to use my laptop, the garden) I can't get a signal, so I purchased an Airport Express to extend the range of the wireless network and for some reason I can't get it to extend the network that I have created on the Mini.

The strange thing is, it allows me to use it with airtunes controlled from the Mini, but won't extend the network.

I had considered moving the router into a more central location and creating a wireless network by plugging the airport express direct into that, but I need a wired connection to the PC as it doesn't have wireless so it wouldn't really be suitable.

I've tried everything I can think of, and don't really want to fork out for an airport extreme base station as well if I can help it. Does anyone have any ideas on if this is possible or not?

Thanks for your time guys, I really appreciate it.

I have a similar problem to you. I also want to extend the range of my computer-based network using an Airport Express. I have not found any explanation how to do it. Did you find anything it the link above which helped?

Obviously we need to turn WDS on. I can't see how to do that on the computer base-station in the Airport settings. Is it only necessary to do this on the Airport Express?

I haven't bought an Airport Express yet as I thought there might be some difficulty doing this. I would love to hear how it can be done.

Thanks.
