I have a cable modem and a 802.11g D-Link DI-624 router. This problem is happening quite frequently, nearly hourly I estimate. Basically, I'm connected via Airport and all of a sudden, I lose all the signal strength bars for about 15 seconds, then it comes back to full strength, and about 15 seconds later, it settles back to 2-3 bars and I'm back online. It's like the router is restarting regularly or something. I'm not sure if it's the router or my modem, but this is VERY annoying. Anyone have any ideas?

It might be signal interference. Do you have any other wireless devices, a cordless phone perhaps?

<edit> It turns out others are having this same problem: http://blog.markwshead.com/info3/D-L...ss-Router.html

Since I have an AirPort Express that I need to get more use out of, I am considering getting an AirPort Base Station and using the Express to extend its signal (I was disappointed to find out you can't extend a non-AirPort router's signal). However, I tried the Base Station before and it doesn't have a strong signal, and it's overpriced.

It's not signal interference.

mjames, join the club.

You are not alone. Not even with your D-Link router, it happens with Linksys and others as well...

That Linksys is a good router, the D-Link is also a good router but the firmware should be updated soon.

The latest version 2.53 can be downloaded from http://www.dlink.ca (Support section) With this firmware my router is now working perfectly for over 60 days straight no reboots no lost signal.
