How do i upgrade the firmware for my linksys router?

I've downloaded the firmware from the linksys website, but i'm unable to install/upgrade.

is there a special MAC firmware updater...because the one i'm downloading may be for a PC only.

Which Linksys model? On mine (WRT54G) firmware upgrades work fine on my Mac running 10.3.9.
I do not like those green links and spam.
