Hello -
I received excellent advice here when I was setting up my wireless network. Somehow, I lost my secure network and am currently connected with possibly no encryption. I searched the topics, but couldn't find explicit instructions. SO -
I have a Netgear Wireless Router with cable modem. I have an Airport card. I also just got Tiger. I am connected right now, but my network is called, "Wireless" and I know that is not good. I attempted to add a network, thinking I would just switch to the new one, but I got lost somewhere.
Is there a thread with really good instructions so I can get secure again? Will I have the option for WPA even if I think I used to have WEP? Thank you very much!!

She's too happy!

Connect to the Netgear box with a cable (not through the AirPort card) and get into its browser-based configuration system. See what it says about its wireless portion; it may be off, or it may have even been attacked or corrupted.

Further, with the version of AirPort software that comes with Tiger you should have the option to use WPA-if the Netgear box supports it and you set it up correctly.
