Anybody use non-Apple fiber channel cards??

Seem like qLogic 2gbit cards can be had on ebay (new) for around $200.

We'd like to set up a SAN and have heard that it is best to standardize on one HBA manufactuter (Windows/Linux/Mac enviroment) as well as switches, etc.

Any thoughts?

Just asking because it always seems like Apple Perepherials are overpriced. (e.g. memory, NICs, HBAs, Hard Drives, etc.) and that third party parts more often than not work just as well but a a much lower cost.

I don't know for Apple, but at our office we use all IBM. Our whole SAN is IBM, switches, HBAs, everything... I know recently we got two trays on ebay, both IBM filled with 36gig drives for $2000 which is an excellent deal. If nothing else staying with one vendor will make parts aquisitions easy.
