I know someone who has an airport base station with a cable internet connection in their house. Connected to this network is a PB, and an old imac that is hardwired with internet. Whenever their house phone rings, the PB gets disconnected from the internet and if they make a call from their house phone they lose connection. I don't know much about wireless networks or what is going on with this problem. Maybe someone can help?

AirPort runs on the 2.4GHz frequency band. This is the same frequency as some cordless phones, and is also the same frequency your microwave emits as noise!

There's not much you can do except move the base station to a different location. (or get different phones).... the wireless internet protocol does have some noise-resistance built in, so even if there is some noise present, your connection will still be active as long as there's not a lot of noise....

Dork. is right. If the phone ONLY affects the wireless network it has to be a wireless phone in the house, and it's because the phone is on the same frequency band as the wireless network. Your friend can change the channel he has his network set to, but most cordless phones use a variety of frequencies too, so that may not do the job. I'd recommend that they either deal with phone wires, or buy a phone on a different band, such as 5.2GHz.

I had a similar situation and changing the channel to 11 on the Airport Base worked for me. But I've also heard that phones jump around the channels so your friend may have to try something different.
