I have searched the boards and tried to fix my problem there first- so don't yell at me.

But I am having problems with my airport network dropping off on ONE of my computers.

I have futzed with the settings and made sure they are the same, but the iBook always stays connected, while the Powerbook does not.

How do I pinpoint the problem?

You'll need to provide a lot more information for anyone to give you much help. You use the term "airport network," so I'm assuming you're using some kind of AirPort Base Station-which one? Which models of iBook and PowerBook do you have?

What are the differences between the two computers? Are you able to connect the PowerBook via an ethernet cable? Does the PB's AirPort icon show the same network name all the time, or is there some other name.

And in spite of changing from titanium to aluminum, the PB's case is still something of a problem in terms of wireless connections, so it could be you're just trying to use it farther away from the base station than it wants to connect.

OK, here's some more...

First of all this worked fine for 2 years since I got my Powerbook.

I have a first gen 17" Powerbook with an airport extreme card and an iBook G4 with an airport extreme card, and original airport base station.

Yes the PB connects with a cable and yes the network SOMETIMES shows up as a choice but when I try to join it wants a password and when I enter it, I get an error connecting to the network.

Note: the iBook does not request a password and connects automatically.

Both computers are set to automatically join. Sometimes if I put the PB right next to the base station it automatically joins.

Have you tried deleting your current location and setting it up fresh? I've seen that fix odd issues where something has tweaked the wrong setting just enough to hose it up.
