Nobody has put any effort into making Mac drivers for USB Wi-Fi since every Mac with USB except for a few iMac models has the possibility for either an Apple AirPort card, a PC Card wireless card, or PCI wireless card.

I'd suggest returning it and buying the appropriate Apple card for the iBook.

Some people have but its not easy and it is not for every USB WiFi dongle.

Otherwise he's right. Find another way to get wireless. USB is not the way to go.

USB wireless devices have a history of being poorly supported on Macs. The ones that work that I've read about often run slower than the wireless network is capable of, and there are sometimes encryption issues too. Check eBay for an AirPort card-you'll be much better served by that.
