Hey all,
I was wondering if there is a way in 9.2.2 to release and renew the IP? I know how to in OS X, and XP (unfortunately). My college allows computers access to the internet only after a vulnerability scan, and then grants access by identifying the computer via the MAC address. There are 3 different IP address types you can have: 192.x is for unregistered computers, 130.x is for registered happy computers, and 169.x is for computers showing signs of virus/malware activity such as excessive network traffic and such.
In my department we have two Digital Audio G4s running OS 9.2.2. I know, don't laugh. I am fighting to get G5s, especially considering the rest of the school has them. Just not the School of Arts. Both of the computers were registered and happy, but one just came up with a 169.x IP. Fir giggles I ran Virex on it, but all came up clean. This is before unheard of in our IT dept. Other than changing the settings to a differnt mode of connection like PPP and then returning, or powering down then back up, I don't know what else there is in 9.
Thanks for any help.
