I use my Powerbook (1.5ghz 15" PB) at work on our Windows network. Things worked fine but recently there have been 2 changes. 1. My update to 10.4.3. and 2. Decommissioning of our old server that has been idol for quite sometime. Now when I browse the network, I can see all of the computers and their shares, but when I try to access them it claims that the aliases are incorrect. I've authenticated as an admin and this still doesn't help. If I try to fix the aliases, the network icon is grayed out in the find/save dialogue. If I try to delete the aliases, I get a message stating I don't have permission to do so (this happens if I log into the root account as well). Our IT manager has checked the server and loosened some restrictions but still no joy.
Using ping and dig from the terminal, I get appropriate responses from the server. I've tried repairing permissions and that hasn't helped. My next thoughts were to try and delete all my finder preferences and maybe clean out my caches. Any other helpful hints?
The server is running Windows Server 2003.
