Ok, i just got my ibook, my school provided them, and they said we could get on the internet, we just have to hook up our own internet to our ibook at home, but i tried that and it won't work...will somebody help me please

Do you have cable or DSL? If so, you may need to plug the iBook in, unplug the power from the modem, wait a few minutes, and then plug the modem back in. Some broadband modems bind to the MAC address of the computer they're attached to.

Please note that ANY Internet connectivity questions go in the Networking forum, so I'm moving this thread there.

And please, provide some detail. You've basically asked "why?" so we're all responding with "why what? We need to know EVERYTHING: your ISP and what type of broadband connection you have, your hardware, particularly the brand and model of modem and (if you have one) router. And you say "i tried," but you don't say what you tried-that would help a lot.
