here's what i've done so far:

1) enabled internet sharing from airport to ethernet port
2) enabled personal web sharing
3) gave the ethernet connection a static ip address

i've gone into the xbox 360, gave that its own ip address but its giving me a dns error. i manually typed in the router's ip but it still doesnt work. any ideas?

The 360 needs your ISP's DNS server addresses. If you don't see a way to set those, maybe you should change it back to automatic addressing (DHCP), which will provide not just the IP address, but all the other data the machine needs to connect online.

How long did you have to stand in line for your 360? Was it worth it?
