okay, I'll go home for the holidays visiting friends and family in good ol' germany. apparently all the place where I'll stay have wired networks (unfortunately no wifi routers)...
thus I was thinking of getting airport express for cheap and take it with me on the trip...here's my question..
from what I understand one usually connects the AEx w/ the cable modem, right? ..but what if a router is already connected to the cable/DSL modem? just connect AEx with one of the router jacks in which one would usually plug the network cable going to the computer?
any help/info/nput is very much appreciated!

Big question: Why worry about the Express if there's already a wireless network everywhere you're going? Are you more interested in the music streaming than the wireless connectivity?

uhmm, I dunno which post you've read but I've stated that all the places I'll visit have WIRED routers (no WIFI routers)...
if anybody can give me an answer to my question..I'd greatly appreciate that.

My bad-I misread your post. It WAS early...
Anyway, is the point that you want a nicely portable wireless access point to take with you and connect to the wired networks where you're going? Yes, you can do that, and it should work fine. The Express doesnb't care WHAT you plug into it.
You may have to mess with the Express' setup to deal with getting the correct IP address on the networks you drop into, but that shouldn't be an issue; just turn off the DHCP server in the Express.

hey no prob!
I'm just wondering if plugging AExp. into a router instead of a cable/dsl modem will cause any problems in terms of getting an IP etc. technically, that would be 2 routers wired together w/ 2 NATs etc., right?

It would be if you don't change the Express' settings. You CAN make it just a bridge-make the AX simply convert wired traffic to wireless and vice versa. It's a setting you make in the AirPort Admin Utility, and it's very simple. In fact, this setting is so close to the one to turn off the DHCP server that I was thinking of that page when I typed the note above.
