I have a half dozen lombard powerbooks, all of which use 10.3.9 (the latest OS apple allows in the older lombard). When I try to use any of my PCMCIA cards in them...the cards all work in OS 9.2.2, but are not even seen by the airport setup assistant in OS 10.3.9. I have four Orinoc/Proxim wavelan silver cards, one Belkin pre-N card, two RoamAbout 802.11 DS High Rate, and two Netgear wireless USB Adapters...and none of them work in OS X. OS X apparently does not support ant aftermarket cards. It seems to me, to be a step back from OS 9 that way. Any suggestions? I use the snow IEEE 802.11b airport for most of my WiFi...and surprizingly have no real problem with Windows XP Home using the cards to connect. Thanks! Dan

OS X supports a ton of PMCIA cards natively, provided they use the Broadcom chip. I used the Buffalo card with 10.3.9 and it had worderful wireless range. Here's a list of cards, some of which need drivers (I'd choose one that didn't need a driver, natch)
