The Mac in question is a iMac G3 400. It has an Airport card and the signal is very weak because the Linksys router is about 150 ft away in a separated garage. What I want to do is build a cantenna for this iMac on the iMac's end; not the router's. Does anyone know if it's possible to just pull the antenna wire from the computer(the one comming out of the Airport Card), and lead that to the cantenna? Would this work? Does anyone have a link for a project like this? It sounds like it would work, but I just want to make sure. Thanks.

You could do it but the antenna in the iMac is T shaped and runs up inside the computer around the sides of the CRT. So its going to take a while to take it apart. It would be smarter to just buy a pigtail and make an antenna to run to your "cantenna"
I would just buy an omnidirectional antenna and mount it outside the computer.
