Powerbook won't auto join favorite networks

I have been using the Automatic Location to join my home and work wireless networks seemlessly for 2 years now. However, all of a sudden it won't auto connect to the networks. I have to select them under the airport menu.

Under network preferences I have tried choosing 'by default join: a specific network', but this still doesn't work.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is?

I've have a similar ongoing problem that I've been trying to troubleshoot in this thread. Does your problem sound like mine, i.e. also involve your password not being saved?
