If someone could help me with a problem I've got, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I am trying to get my GigE PowerMac onto my wireless network. I have an Airport Extreme Base Station plugged into my DSL modem. My iBook uses this wireless network. Because of where the phone jacks are located and where my PowerMac is located I cannot route the network through the wired connection on the AE Base Station.

After trying several PCI wireless cards with no success, I decided to get an Airport Express to extend the wireless network, running an ethernet cable from the AExpress into my PowerMac.

The Express is joined to my network, the lights are green, the ethernet cable is plugged into the Mac and the Express.... and it doesn't work. And now, after having run the Internet Set-up Assistant my Ethernet connection option has disappeared in the Network prefpane (even after I switch from the new location created by the Assistant and return to my old one).

Now, I know the ethernet works on the tower. In my last apartment I networked both of these computers directly through the Extreme Base. There's also a PC successfully using the wired connection on the Extreme Base.

Does anyone have a clue how to make this set-up work? Perhaps switching the Extreme and Express stations around would do something (so the DSL goes into the Express in the back room, and the Extreme goes into the tower?).

Thanks in advance for any help!

Sounds like you are trying to create a wireless bridge, There are a few solutions I can think of.

You could buy a D-Link Wireless access point and that would bridge your tower to your base station.

Have you got any PCI slots available?

I'd suggest you get a Sonnet wireless PCI card that would work with your extreme base station.

Failing all of those ideas then you could just either run a 100 ft cable or buy an old Airport card.

As for Airport Express...I have no idea what to do with those things...Yet.
