The product specs for the G600 on D-Link's website (http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=0&pid=377) say that the enclosure will support "All Variants of ATA/IDE up to ATA/133."

Will this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...AS#DetailSpecs (Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 ST3300831AS 300GB 7200 RPM 8M Cache Serial ATA150 Hard Drive) work in the D-Link G600 enclosure? The Seagate is Serial ATA150.

Thank you.

No, you need the UltraATA 100 version for $35 more. Since the price jump is so big ($40 for 50GB), you may want to consider the 250GB UltraATA 100 drive for $94.

Thank you. What is the difference between ATA 100, 133, 150, and why is the enclosure only compatible up to 133? Can I not use a Serial ATA drive here, or is there another wireless enclosure that will support Serial?

Should I even be concerned if all I plan on doing is making routine (1-2 times per month) backups of my PowerBook's HD?

ATA (also known as PATA, Ultra ATA, and IDE) comes in 33, 66, 100, and 133 MBps versions and they all share the same plug (seen on the left below). SATA (also known as Serial ATA) comes in 150 and 300 MBps versions and they both share the same plug (seen on the right below).

For backing up your PowerBook it really doesn't matter, since either 3.5" drive will be faster than the drive in your PowerBook.
