I have one of the first gen. Mac Mini's without built-in wireless. I'm about to move to a house with a Linksys wireless router. Is there a way to get the Mini wireless? Can I buy a Linksys USB wireless receiver, or will it not be Mac compatible? Thanks!

Why not just get an Airport Extreme card? The Linksys USB adapter won't work.

Yes you CAN install an AirPort Extreme card in the first gen Mini, but it's a pain. I don't have my notes with me right now, but it's going to involve basically disassembling the Mini to the point where you can get to the subframe that houses the card-and I don't remember if it's the same Express card that goes in iBooks or not. Hit Google for something like "install airport mac mini" and see what that turns up for you.

As Macola says, most USB devices don't have Mac drivers, so they're a problem. You could search back in this forum a couple of months for the USB devices that people HAVE found to work - with some special drivers and a few dodges. The best choice is to use a real AirPort card, but as I said, it's not going to be easy.

Thanks for the help all. I've been looking at a few options, the Linksys WET54g wireless bridge which seems to have Mac compatibility. I've also been thinking about just installing Airport on it. I have a couple questions regarding that though. Will an airport card with a Linksys wireless router? Also, are there any sites that tell you EXACTLY what you need to get Airport installed (ie: what parts and whatnot)...I've searched, but can't find any that definitively tell you what exactly you need. Also, where could I order those parts from? Thanks for the help!
