I've got a 15" 1.5ghz G4 powerbook and an airport express set up in my room, connected to my speakers. the express is on my desk about 9 feet away. but every day or so, my powerbook will completely lose the express signal and it won't come back for at least 10 minutes, sometimes up to 40minutes. I try restarting and logging in and out and turning the airport on/off with the Internet Connect app, but none of this seems to help. I do not know why I lose the signal; it's only 9-10ft away and there is nothing in between the two. the airport express light is also steady green the whole time.

my setup is: (cable modem)->router->airport express

my powerbook is the only wireless computer on my network and the other wired computers that connect to the router all can access the internet when the airport express cuts out.

this is quite annoying and I have no clue why the signal is so unsteady. anyone have any troubleshooting ideas?

Is there a possibility that someone else around has a wireless system? I'd go into the AirPort Admin Utility and change the channel from where it is (Auto, right?) to something like 1 or 11. Moving to one of the channels at the extreme ends will get you away from all the other wireless devices that stay on their default channels (usually 6 or 7).

I was having the same problem, ending up doing a factory reset - http://www.macworld.com/weblogs/mac911/2004/08/000282/ - and it's been behaving since then

the thing is, the powerbook only sits on my table next to my couch. it hardly ever moves. it'll be stationary for the day then all of a sudden drop out.
