Hi every one,

I have an issue with the netgear. I have an Open, iconnect modem(2/2 router ADSL modem) connected to the netgear and my two macs (G4 iMac 17" and B&W G3) connected by ethernet to the netgear.

When I try to iChat I get the meassage that "the other side did not respond" or ..." canceled the call" etc. With the modem direct to my computer iChat works fine. My brother (who I've been trying to chat with has the same setup and same problem.

I have spoken to netgear and we tried to configure the modem in bridging mode and run it through the netgear with no success.

I've tried port forwarding etc and this does not help either.

Has anyone had this specific problem or have an answer?

I would appreciate the help thanks.

Since you can connect between your own Macs without trouble, I suspect the firewall on your modem is the culprit. You'll need to check your firewall settings on your router. The specific ports you need to look for are listed here.
I gotta have more cowbell.
