I noticed today that the logs for my Motorola SB5100 cable modem had become filled with the following error messages:
T001.0 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing
T002.0 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire FEC framing
These two keep repeating at two-minute intervals. They are tagged as "critical".
There is also this entry, which only shows up once or twice:
R005.0 Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received - T3 time-out
Anyone know what any of this means and what (if?) there is anything I need to do? The modem seems to be operating just fine. Connection is as fast as ever. Is this just a case of the modem expecting to see something on Comcast's server side but not seeing it?
A cursory check of Motorola's website shows no firmware updates to the modem. Actually, the only thing available there are USB drivers for Windows. I'm using ethernet to hook the modem to a Netgear router.
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim
