Hi all, I have a MacBook on the way and I'll be wanting to hook it up to the internet as soon as possible. Right now we have a Windows Machine with a Linskys wireless router. The router is a 2.4 802.11B Broadband router. Will I just be able to turn on the WiFi on the MacBook and have the internet or will I have issues come up? Thanks!
Yes, you should only have to turn on the WiFi (AirPort) functions of the MacBook-they should be on by default) to use your existing wireless network. But I'd upgrade the wireless router to a faster (802.11G) model. You can get one for a very reasonable price, and you're not married to any particular brand. Shop, compare, and get faster-you'll be glad you did.
Thanks, I figured that'd be the case. Upgrading the Router would be nice, but I'm going to be a freshman in college so $70ish is a fair amount for me, and it's an extreme amound after dropping that much on the MacBook.
