I just received my new MacBook today and it's beautiful. It's running extremely well. I'd like to move my music collection from my desktop to the macbook, but I'm having trouble connecting to other computers. When I go to "Network Neighborhood" in Windows, it shows a list of all computers and shared folders on my network. When I go into "Network" in Finder, I don't see anything. I then attempt to use "Go -> Connect to Server." I type in "192.168.0.2" which is the computer I'm trying to connect to. It tells me that it's unable to connect. I then use "smb: \\192......" but it still doesn't work. I then tried using the computer's name, "homecomp" and it doesn't work. I can't connect to it! It connects fine on a windows computer and laptop. What's wrong?

does it work with smb://192.168.0.2/shareName?

can you ping your desktop from your mb in terminal? your other computers? can your desktop ping your mb?

yeah, gotta love it when switching between platforms and having to remember which one uses which slashes for what. 8)
