Ive been seeing alot of stuff about pre-n wireless and such. is there any time table for when they make it the new standard? and when they do will there be a new airport card for sale by apple??? Thanks.

There is a lot of squabbling over the N standard, and it is expected to be finalized in 12-18 months.

The supposed timeframe for the standard being finalized is "some time in 2007." Don't hold your breath. But don't go out and get a "pre-N" box with any expectation that it will support the final standard either. mduell's probably a little optomistic about when there'll be an AirPort card that supports N, at least in my opinion.

I've had very good experiences with Belkin's Pre-N router (grey version--not the newest one), specifically with streaming video wirelessly; I can stream half-res HD plus AC3 audio with no playback hitches to an Airport Extreme equipped Mac. Belkin also makes Pre-N USB adapters which I would expect to work well with their Pre-N routers.

I'm very happy with my Pre-N setup overall, and figure it's worth investing in especially since it's backwards compatible with 802.11g and 802.11b.
