I'm trying to expand my wired home network adding a wireless component and I have some basic design questions.

My current setup is a cable provider modem to a linksys 4 port router for 3 macs (G5 dual 1.8, and 2 G4 iMacs)and an x-box. Works great.

I'd like to add a wireless network where I would leave the iMacs and x-box set up as is, but use the port where the G5 had been to connect to a second linksys wired router.
The second router would have the G5 (now with an APExtreme card) and an APExtreme wired in, so I could share the internet connection with an Intel dual core mini in another room (and ethernetted to another APExtreme).

Does this work? Is the bridge sufficient?

Is there any advantage if the second linksys router is wireless?

Should I pass on linksys and use an APBaseStation instead of a second router?

In a post earlier today, wifidude suggested WiTopia's SecuremyWiFI services. Has anyone else used them?

All constructive suggestions appreciated. Thanks,

If you're going to buy another router anyway, why not just buy a wireless one (Linksys would be good) and replace your existing one? Or is there a significant reason not to do that?

I was concerned about security and thought the 'second router' approach offered more security, but now that you've made your suggestion, I can't see why not.
Thank you.

If you properly secure your wireless network I think it should be fine. Make sure you get one with WPA (most recent models have it).
