I have Three Macs and a PC on a wired network at home. The PC has instant access to web pages, but the Macs take forever to load a page. This changed when I switched to a wired versus wireless system. Same modem, same router (D-Link Airplus G). Downloads are quicker. I can use 4 different browsers on one machine and they all hang opening the page. Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have any answers, but I seem to have a similar problem. I have a 15" PB 1.5 MHz, wireless to an Airport Express, then to a Netgear router. The problem seemed to appear after the 10.4.7 update. I am running 10.4.7. Could you give more info on your system?

More info would be needed from both of you. What wireless router/access point are you using? How is it configured? How are the other computers (the ones that are fast) configured?

There's a setting somewhere-an AirPort setting-that needs adjusting.

By the way, if you're using one of those "double speed" or whatever they call it modes, that will definitely keep a Mac from working right with such a router-those modes are not standard and are not supported by AirPort.

Yes, I'm having the same problem. Pages start to load, then pause 5-15 seconds. It's horrible. My wife has a dell notebook on the network that loads pages instantly. Please help.

My set up: 2.7 dual G5 running 10.4.7 -> D-Link 4100 gaming router -> Surfboard Modem

Thaks

Configuration of the router is pretty important, as is AirPort configuration. AirPort should default to just about perfect settings, but if there's something odd or dicey about the router, or if you've changed the AirPort settings from their default, that could definitely cause problems.
